Spot pubblicitari di ogni genere, fiction e soprattutto film, con produzioni internazionali e partecipazioni prestigiose: da decenni, per le sue particolari atmosfere e per gli scenari offerti dal centro storico e dal territorio circostante, Montepulciano è scelta come set ideale. Tra i film più noti: Il paziente inglese, In nome del Papa Re, L’arcidiavolo, Sogno di una notte di mezza estate, Sotto il sole della Toscana; e, in tempi più recenti, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, un fenomeno di dimensioni imprevedibili.
Per ricordare quest’ultima pellicola “New Moon”, Montepulciano ospita, grazie alla generosità di Marco Menichetti – appassionato della saga e grande amico della città – due particolari opere realizzate e donate dallo stesso Menichetti. Una scultura in travertino e ferro battuto dedicata al film (donata nel 2018) e una riproduzione in scala delle lancette dell’orologio del nostro Palazzo Comunale, puntate a pochi minuti da mezzogiorno (donazione del 2025). Un dettaglio che richiama la celebre scena finale della pellicola, girata in Piazza Grande, quando lo scoccare delle dodici segna il momento in cui Bella riesce a salvare Edward. L’elegante riproduzione, realizzata in acciaio da un’officina meccanica di Sesto Fiorentino, è stata collocata in dialogo con la precedente opera, ancora oggi ammirata e fotografata da ospiti e visitatori.

“Sono le grandi sfide che la vita ci pone a farci talvolta comprendere che il tempo a nostra disposizione non è infinito, che un abbraccio può diventare un luogo dove restare, un istante non essere più parte di una giornata ma la giornata stessa, che non dobbiamo rinviare ciò che conta, che non possiamo aspettare che la vita ci spaventi per dire un “ti amo” senza misura. Fermiamoci ad ascoltare chi amiamo, oppure un amico o una persona cara, doniamogli il nostro tempo, ammiriamo i magnifici colori del tramonto assieme a lei, non aspettiamo che la vita ci dia un motivo per farlo. Ricordiamoci che il tempo, nel nostro cuore, non si misura in ore o minuti ma attraverso quei momenti che ci fanno assaporare la bellezza della vita, siano essi racchiusi in un abbraccio, uno sguardo, un bacio, una corsa con i propri figli o in qualsiasi cosa che ci tolga il respiro per l’emozione. Il tempo donato a coloro a cui vogliamo bene ci riempirà di ricordi e questi faranno sì che, anche nei momenti più bui, potremo trovare una luce per illuminare il cammino. Diamo dunque valore al tempo, perché attraverso esso, se lo spendiamo bene, possiamo vivere un’esistenza piena di significato.” Marco Menichetti

Commercials of all kinds, television series and above all films, including international productions and prestigious collaborations: for decades, thanks to its distinctive atmosphere and the scenery offered by its historic center and surrounding landscape, Montepulciano has been chosen as an ideal film set. Among the most well-known films are The English Patient, In the Name of the Pope King, L’arcidiavolo, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Under the Tuscan Sun; and more recently The Twilight Saga: New Moon, a phenomenon of extraordinary global impact.
To commemorate this latter film, Montepulciano now hosts, thanks to the generosity of Marco Menichetti — a passionate admirer of the saga and a great friend of the town — two special works commissioned by him.
In 2018 he donated to the Municipality a travertine and wrought-iron sculpture dedicated to the film. In September 2025, on the twentieth anniversary of the publication of the novel that inspired the Twilight saga, Marco chose to renew his bond with Montepulciano with a truly special gift: a scale reproduction of the clock hands of the Town Hall, set just a few minutes before noon.
A detail that recalls the famous final scene of New Moon, filmed in Piazza Grande, when the stroke of twelve marks the moment Bella manages to save Edward.
The elegant reproduction, crafted in steel by a mechanical workshop in Sesto Fiorentino, has been installed in dialogue with the previous sculpture, which is still admired and photographed by guests and visitors today.
“It’s the great challenges life presents us that sometimes make us understand that the time we have is not infinite, that a hug can become a place to stay, a moment no longer part of a day but the day itself, that we mustn’t put off what matters, that we can’t wait for life to scare us before saying an unbounded “I love you.” Let’s stop and listen to those we love, whether a friend or a loved one, let’s give them our time, let’s admire the magnificent colors of the sunset with them, let’s not wait for life to give us a reason to do so. Let’s remember that time, in our hearts, is not measured in hours or minutes but through those moments that allow us to savor the beauty of life, be they captured in a hug, a glance, a kiss, a run with our children, or anything that takes our breath away with emotion. The time we give to those we love will fill us with memories, and these will ensure that, even in the darkest moments, we can find a light to illuminate our path. Let us therefore value time, because through it, if we spend it well, we can live a life filled with meaning.” Marco Menichetti
